Our History
American Legal’s team of attorneys and editors are codification experts dedicated to providing you exceptional quality, service and support. We’ve built a reputation of excellence and innovation in codification services and are the trusted codification service provider for thousands of municipalities and local governments nationwide.
We began as the codification division of the Anderson Publishing Company in Cincinnati in 1934. We became a separate corporation in 1979, and then employee-owned in 2006. In 2023, American Legal became a proud member of the International Code Council Family of Solutions.
With more attorneys on staff than any other codification publisher; you’ll always have experienced professionals working on your codes and answering your questions.
Our professional knowledge and strong partnerships made us the choice for the Walter H. Drane Company and Sterling Codifiers to join the American Legal Publishing Group, in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
